Abstract

  • In May 2012 in Kota Kendari there was inflation of 0.05 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 138.02. Of the 66 cities calculating inflation, 36 cities experienced inflation and 30 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pontianak at 0.93 percent with CPI 149.23 and the lowest occurred in Balikpapan City by 0.04 percent with CPI 139.17. While the largest deflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City of 1.15 percent with CPI 143.41 and the smallest deflation occurred in Bogor City of 0.03 percent with CPI 130.35.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index indicated by the price index on finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.12 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 1.72 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.07 percent. While the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index number of foodstuffs by 0.50 percent; clothing by 0.69 percent; health 0.06 percent and transport, communications and financial services by 0.98 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-May) 2012 is 2.89 percent and the inflation rate year on year in May 2012 to May 2011) is 4.75 percent.
  • National inflation in May 2012 was 0.07 percent, the rate of inflation in calendar year (January-May) 2012 was 1.15 percent, year-on-year inflation rate (May 2012 to May 2011) was 4.45 percent.
