Abstract

  • Negative Inflation Kendari City in December of 2013, recorded at 0.05 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 149.50. Nationally from 66 cities counting inflation, sixty-one cities recorded inflation, with the highest inflation recorded in Manado City of 2.69 percent and Kupang City at 1.59 percent. Meanwhile, the largest deflation recorded in Padang Sidempuan City was 0.44 percent and Lhokseumawe City was 0.12 percent.
  • The negative inflation occurring in Kendari City was caused by the decrease of the price index in the foodstuff category by 0.81 percent and the clothing 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, the index increased by 0.44 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.43 percent; transportation, communications and financial services 0.24 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.22 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.15 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-December) 2013 and year on year inflation rate (December 2013 to December 2012) was recorded at 5.92 percent.
  • National inflation in December 2013 was 0.55 percent, inflation rate (January-December 2013) and year on year inflation rate (December 2013 to December 2012) at 8.38 percent.
