Abstract

  • If in April 2011 Kendari City deflation occurred 0.20 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 130.35. So in May 2011 there was inflation of 1.08 percent with CPI 131.76. Of 66 cities calculating inflation 51 cities experienced inflation and 15 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon City of 1.66 percent with CPI 128.84 and the lowest occurred in Mataram by 0.02 percent with CPI 131.30. While the largest deflation occurred in the city of Tarakan by 1.14 percent to CPI 144.35.
  • Inflation was attributable to price increases as indicated by rising indexes in all categories: foodstuffs 2.31 percent; finished food, tobacco and tobacco 0.04 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.52 percent; clothing group 1.20 percent; health group 0.35 percent; the education, recreation and sports group by 0.05 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group 1.16 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-May) 2011 was 3.25 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2011 to May 2010) was 6.65 percent.
  • National Inflation in May 2011 was 0.12 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-May) 2011 was 0.51 percent, the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2011 to May 2010) was 5.98 percent.
