Abstract

  • In July 2011 Kendari City inflation occurred 1.64 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 134.94. Of the 66 cities that calculated inflation, 65 cities experienced inflation and 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari City of 2.56 percent with CPI 142.05 and the lowest occurred in the city of Banjarmasin by 0.03 percent to CPI 131.88. While deflation occurred in Ambon City of 1.20 percent with CPI 132.09.
  • Inflation was due to price increases as indicated by the rising index in the foodstuff category of 4.89 percent; food, tobacco and tobacco group decreased 0.31 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.39 percent; clothing group 0.90 percent; health group 0.12 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0.48 percent and transportation, communication and financial services group 0.46 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-July) 2011 was 5.74 percent and year-on-year (July 2011 to July 2010) inflation rate was 6.96 percent.
  • National Inflation in July 2011 was 0.67 percent, the calendar year inflation rate (January-July) 2011 was 1.74 percent, year-on-year (July 2011 to July 2010) inflation rate of 4.61 percent.
