Abstract

  • In July 2012 in Kendari City there was inflation of 0.62 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 139.79. Of the 66 cities that calculate inflation, all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City of 3.17 percent with CPI 148.20 and the lowest occurred in Sibolga City by 0.11 percent with CPI of 140.63.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index shown by the price index in the foodstuff category by 1.04 percent; health 1.18 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 1.51 percent; transportation, communication and financial services 0.64 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.13 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index numbers are: housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.07 percent and clothing by 0.01 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-July) 2012 is 4.21 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate of July 2012 against July 2011) is 3.59 percent.
  • National inflation in July 2012 was 0.70 percent, the rate of inflation in calendar year (January-July) 2012 was 2.50 percent, the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2012 to July 2011) was 4.56 percent.
