Abstract

  • Kendari City Inflation in October of 2013, recorded at -1.19 percent (deflation) with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 149.52. Nationally from 66 cities counting inflation, twenty-seven cities recorded deflation, with the largest deflation recorded in Ambon City of 3.82 percent and Kota Sorong at 2.68 percent. Meanwhile, the highest inflation was recorded in Kota Sibolga at 1.25 percent and Dumai City at 1.17 percent.
  • Deflation in Kendari was recorded as a result of falling price index in the foodstuff category by 3.95 percent; clothing 0.72 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.37 percent and 0.08 percent of transport, communications and financial services. Meanwhile, the index increased by 0.16 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.10 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.03 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-October) 2013 was recorded at 5.93 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2013 to October 2012) was 6.25 percent.
  • National inflation in October 2013 was 0.09 percent, inflation rate (January-October 2013) was 7.66 percent and inflation rate year on year (October 2013 to October 2012) was 8.32 percent.
