Abstract

  • In October 2012 in Kendari City there was a deflation of 0.21 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 140.73. Of 66 cities calculating inflation, 38 cities experienced inflation and 28 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari City at 0.97 percent with CPI of 148.74 and the lowest occurred in Kediri at 0.01 percent with CPI of 134.05. While the largest deflation occurred in Ambon City of 2.44 percent with CPI of 138.56 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Madiun City by 0.01 percent with CPI 137.48.
  • Deflation occurred in Kendari City due to the decline in the price index indicated by the price index in the food expenditure group by 1.23 percent and education, recreation and sports by 0.12 percent. While the expenditure group experienced an increase in index numbers are: health 0 , 54 percent; clothing 0.44 percent; transportation, communications and financial services 0.27 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.14 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.07 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-October) 2012 is 4.91 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2012 to October 2011) is 4.95 percent.
  • National inflation in October 2012 was 0.16 percent, year-on-year (January-October) inflation rate of 3.66 percent, year-on-year (October 2012 to October 2011) inflation rate of 4.61 percent.
