Abstract

  • In March 2012 in Kota Kendari there was inflation of 0.21 percent with Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 137.27. Of 66 cities calculating inflation, 34 cities experienced inflation and 32 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon City of 1.33 percent with CPI of 137.57 and the lowest occurred in Malang at 0.01 percent with CPI 130.50. While the largest deflation occurred in Jayapura City of 1.44 percent with CPI 126.38 and the smallest deflation occurred in Pekanbaru City by 0.03 percent with CPI 130.20.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index shown by the price index in the foodstuff category by 0.46 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.31 percent; health by 0.09 percent; education, recreation and sports 0.45 percent and transport, communications and financial services by 0.70 percent. While the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel and clothing category each fell by 0.49 percent and 0.03 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-March) 2012 is 2.33 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2012 to March 2011) is 5.10 percent.
  • National inflation in March 2012 was 0.07 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-February) 2012 was 0.88 percent, year-on-year (March 2012 to March 2011) inflation rate of 3.97 percent.
