Abstract

  • Kendari City Inflation in July of 2013, influenced by rising fuel prices, Holy Ramadhan month and bad weather caused the consumer price / inflation index to reach a very high figure of 4.85 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 151.15. Of the 66 cities that calculated inflation, all experienced inflation, with the highest inflation recorded in Ternate City of 6.04 and Kota Sorong 5.09 percent. Meanwhile, the lowest inflation was recorded in Singkawang at 1.36 percent and Sibolga with 1.71 percent.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index of transportation, communication and financial services group 11.80 percent; foodstuffs 9.23 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.87 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.33 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.29 percent. While the expenditure group experienced a decrease of 0.70 percent clothing and health 0.07 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-July) 2013 is 7.08 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2013 to July 2012) is 8.13 percent.
  • National inflation in July 2013 was 3.29 percent, inflation rate (January-July 2013) was 6.75 percent and inflation rate year on year (July 2013 to July 2012) was 8.61 percent.
