Abstract

  • Toward the end of 2012 (December) in Kendari city there was inflation of 0.02 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 141.15. Of the 66 cities that calculated inflation, all experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura City of 2.57 percent with CPI 132.71 and the lowest occurred in Kendari City.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to the price increase shown by index in the foodstuff category by 0.01 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.10 percent; health 0.07 percent; education, recreation and sports 0.02 percent and transportation, communications and financial services 0.03 percent. While the other two groups experienced a decrease of finished food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco by 0.07 percent and 0.01 percent for clothes.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-December) 2012 was 5.23 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (December 2012 to December 2011) was 5.23 percent.
  • National inflation in December 2011 was 0.54 percent, the rate of calendar year inflation (January-December) in 2012 was 4.30 percent, year-on-year (December 2012 to December 2011) inflation rate of 4.30 percent.
