Abstract

  • In August 2012 in the city of Kendari there was inflation of 1.82 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 142.33. Of the 66 cities that calculate inflation, all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu City of 2.81 percent with CPI 144.02 and the lowest occurred in Medan City by 0.04 percent with CPI 133.84.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index shown by the price index in the foodstuffs group by 5.73 percent; clothing 1.59 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.87 percent and transportation, communications and financial services 0.33 percent. While the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index numbers are: education, recreation and sports by 0.24 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.16 percent. While the health expenditure group did not experience changes in index numbers (stable).
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-August) 2012 is 6.11 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2012 to August 2011) is 2.42 percent.
  • The national inflation in August 2012 was 0.95 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-August) 2012 was 3.48 percent, the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2012 to August 2011) was 4.58 percent.
