Abstract

  • In November 2011 in Kendari city there was deflation 0.17 percent with Consumer Price Index (CPI) 133.86. Of the 66 cities calculating inflation, 50 cities experienced inflation and 16 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Mataram at 1.25 percent with CPI of 138.83 and the lowest occurred in Palembang City by 0.02 percent with CPI 129.46. The largest deflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City at 1.19 percent.
  • Deflation occurred because of the decline in prices as indicated by the decline of the index in the foodstuff category by 0.89 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.03 percent and transportation, communications and financial services 0.09 percent as well. Although other spending groups showed an increase of 0.85 percent for clothing; education, recreation and sports group 0.23 percent; 0.05 health group and finished food, tobacco and tobacco group 0.01 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-November) 2011 was 4.90 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2011 to November 2010) was 5.19 percent.
  • The national deflation of November 2011 was 0.34 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-November) 2011 was 3.20 percent, the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2011 to November 2010) was 4.15 percent.
