Abstract

If in June 2010 Kendari city experienced deflation of 0.06 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 120.55, then June 2011 was the case where inflation was 0.76 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 132.76. Of the 66 cities that calculated inflation, 65 cities experienced inflation and 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon City of 3.76 percent with CPI 133.69 and the lowest occurred in Padang Sidempuan City by 0.04 percent with CPI 126.17. Deflation occurred in Tanjung Pinang at 0.57 percent with CPI 126.52.
Inflation was due to price increases as indicated by the rising index of the foodstuff category of 2.01 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.41 percent; clothing group 0.99 percent; health group 0.47 percent; education, recreation and sports by 0.02 percent and 0.18 percent for transportation, communication and financial services group. While the finished food group, cigarette and tobacco drinks decreased 0.06 percent.
The calendar year inflation rate (January-June) 2011 was 4.04 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2011 to June 2010) was 7.53 percent.
National Inflation in June 2011 was 0.55 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-June) 2011 was 1.06 percent, the inflation rate year on year (June 2011 to June 2010) was 5.54 percent.
