Abstract
Kendari City deflation in July 2019 was recorded at 0.24 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 135.03. Nationally, from 82 cities that calculated inflation, 27 cities recorded deflation and 55 cities recorded inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) 1.55 percent with CPI of 158.34 and the lowest deflation was recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo Province) 0.02 percent with CPI of 132.42.
Deflation in Kendari City was caused by a decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group by 1.51 percent; health group 0.19 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.13 percent. While the group that experienced an increase in the index included the education, recreation and sports group 2.18 percent; clothing group 0.74 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups 0.15 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.02 percent.
Commodities contributing to deflation are bloating / bloating / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso, kangkung, rambe, spinach, air freight, tembang, squid, anchovies, yellow tail, and milkfish / sponge. Commodities contributing to inflation are elementary school, cayenne, long eggplant, banana heart, high school, mobile phone credit rates, gold jewelery, long beans, cassava leaves and red chili.
Of the eleven cities on Sulawesi Island, eight cities recorded deflation and three cities recorded inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Manado (North Sulawesi Province) 1.21 percent with CPI 138.32 and lowest deflation recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo Province) at 0.02 percent with CPI of 132.42.
The inflation rate of Kendari City calendar year (January-July 2019) is 5.10 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2019 to July 2018) is 3.55 percent.
The inflation rate for the same period in July 2018 was recorded at 0.66 percent, the calendar year (January-July 2018) was 4.09 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate for July 2018 against July 2017 was 1.27 percent.
