Abstract

Consumer Economy Conditions Quarter III-2012

  • The Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) of Sulawesi Tengggara in the third quarter of 2012 was 111.87, meaning that the economic condition of consumers increased from the previous quarter (index value 108.15). The improvement in consumer economic condition was mainly driven by an increase in household income (index value 109.80).
  • Viewed by the average monthly household income group, the high increase of ITK Sulawesi Tengggara occurred on the consumers earning Rp 2 million and above. ITK for consumers earning less than Rp 2 million a month has increased slightly. Their earnings increased compared to the previous quarter and the rising inflation rate also affected the increase in consumption levels of some food commodities and non-food commodities.
  •  Improvement of consumer economic condition in Sulawesi Tengggara occurred due to the improvement of consumer economic condition which is indicated by the increase of consumption of some food commodities (index value 9 of eleven commodities more than 100). Similarly, consumption of non-food commodities increased, recorded 7 of 10 commodities value Index more than 100).
 
Consumer Economy Outlook Quarter IV-2012
  • The value of ITK Sulawesi Tengggara in Quarter IV-2012 is estimated at 108.65, meaning that consumer economic condition is expected to improve. The level of consumer optimism is predicted to be lower than the third Quarter-2012 (ITK value of 111.87).
