Abstract

  • The total workforce in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2012 reached 1,016,957 people with a working population of 975,879, reduced by about 50,669 (4.94 percent) compared to 1,026,548 people in August 2011.
  •  The rate of open unemployment (TPT) in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2012 reached 4.04 percent, an increase of 0.98 percentage points compared to August 2011 (3.06 percent). The highest TPT is in Bau-bau City which is 10,21% and the lowest TPT is in North Kolaka Regency which is equal to 1,17%.
  • The agricultural sector, trade and services sectors are the largest contributors to employment in August 2012.
  • The employment situation in August 2012 compared with August 2011 is marked by the increasing number of workers in industry, trade and services sectors. Employment in the agricultural sector amounted to 399,425 people (40.93 percent), decreased by 67,775 people (14.51 percent) compared to August 2011. Meanwhile, there was an increase in employment in the industrial sector of 11,687 people (22.57 percent) , trade sector was 11,057 people (6,51%), service sector was 1,170 people (0.67 percent). While other sectors (buildings, transportation, mining and quarrying, electricity, gas and drinking water and financial institutions) decreased by 6,808 people (4.19 percent).
  • Of the six (6) main employment status, most of the population in Southeast Sulawesi worked with the status as a worker / employee / employee of 29.48 percent and the smallest status as an effort to be assisted by permanent workers paid 3.43 percent.
  • Based on the level of education, the state of the workforce until August 2012 is still dominated by those with low educational background of elementary school of 445,216 persons (45.62 percent) and Junior High School (176,240) (18.06 percent).
