Abstract

  • The total workforce in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2011 reached 1,058,999 people with a working population of 1,026,548 people, an increase of about 8,414 people (0.83 percent) compared to February 2011 of 1,018,134 people.
  • The Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2011 reached 3.06 percent, decreasing compared to the TPT in February 2011 at 4.34 percent. The highest TPT is Kendari in the amount of 5,64% and the lowest TPT is in the Regency of North Buton which is equal to 1,76%.
  • The agricultural sector, the services sector, and the trading sector are the largest contributors to employment in August 2011.
  • The employment situation in August 2011 compared to February 2011 was marked by the increasing number of workers in the agricultural sector and other sectors. Absorption of manpower in agriculture sector was 467,200 persons (45,51%), 5,603 people (1,21%), others increased by 42,056 (34,98%). Industry, trade and services sectors decreased by 14,250 people (21.58%) for industrial sector, trade sector 11,264 persons (6.22%), service sector 13,731 people (7.26%).
  • Of the seven (7) main employment statuses, most of the population in Southeast Sulawesi worked with employment status as 28.81 percent and the smallest as being tried for permanent workers paid 3.0 percent.
