Abstract

  • In September 2012 in Kendari City there was a deflation of 0.92 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 141.02. Of 66 cities calculating inflation, 21 cities experienced inflation and 45 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City by 0.74 percent with CPI of 149.99 and the lowest occurred in Dumai City of Dumai at 0.01 percent with CPI of 137.15. While the biggest deflation occurred in Singkawang city of 2.18 percent with CPI 140.26 percent and the smallest deflation occurred in Medan City by 0.02 percent with CPI 133.81.
  • Deflation in Kendari City was due to the decline in the price index shown by the price index in the foodstuffs group by 3.18 percent; transportation, communication and financial services 1.21 percent and finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.22 percent. While the expenditure group that experienced an increase in index numbers are: 1.25 percent clothing; education, recreation and sports by 0.71 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.33 percent and health 0.04 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-September) 2012 is 5.13 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2012 to September 2011) is 2.03 percent.
  • National inflation in September 2012 was 0.01 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-September) 2012 was 3.49 percent, year-on-year inflation rate (September 2012 to September 2011) was 4.31 percent.
