Abstract

  • In February 2012 in the city of Kendari there was inflation of 1.34 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 136.98. Of 66 cities calculating inflation, 40 cities experienced inflation and 26 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Mataram at 1.73 percent with CPI of 145.51 and the lowest occurred in Tangerang City by 0.03 percent with CPI 131.59. The largest deflation occurred in Jambi at 1.29 percent with CPI 133.21 and the lowest deflation occurred in Jambi at 1.29 percent with CPI 133.21.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index shown by the price index in the foodstuff category by 3.38 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.53 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.33 percent; clothing 1.85 percent; education, recreation and sports 0.02 percent and transport, communications and financial services by 0.36 percent and 0.14 percent. While the health expenditure group decreased by 0.02 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-February) 2012 is 2.12 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2012 to February 2011) is 4.94 percent.
  • National inflation in February 2012 was 0.05 percent, the rate of inflation in calendar year (January-February) 2012 was 0.81 percent, the year-on-year (February 2012 to February 2011) inflation rate of 3.56 percent.
