Abstract

  • In August 2011 Kendari City inflation occurred 2.99 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 138.97. Of the 66 cities that calculate inflation, all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City of 3.05 percent with CPI of 140.49 and the lowest occurred in Denpasar City by 0.02 percent with CPI 129.38.
  • Inflation was attributable to price increases as indicated by the rising index of 8.31 percent for foodstuffs; finished food groups, cigarette and tobacco drinks decreased 0.15 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.48 percent; clothing group 4.22 percent; health group 0.11 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0.78 percent and 0.77 percent for transportation, communication and financial services
  • The calendar year inflation rate (January-August) 2011 was 8.90 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2011 to August 2010) was 8.01 percent.
  • National Inflation in August 2011 was 0.67 percent, the inflation rate for calendar year (January-August) 2011 was 1.74 percent, year-on-year (August 2011 to August 2010) inflation rate of 4.61 percent.
