Abstract

  • By using new base year (2007 = 100), in November 2008 inflation occurred Kendari -0.62 percent with consumer price index (CPI) of 116.92. Of the 66 cities, 27 cities experienced inflation and 39 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pinang at 1.51 percent with the CPI of 116.84 and the lowest occurring in Surabaya 0.04 percent with CPI of 111.66. The biggest deflation occurred in Maumere City of 1.63 percent with CPI of 121.62 and the smallest occurred in Mataram 0.02 percent with CPI 115.13.
  •  Negative inflation was attributable to the decline in prices indicated by the decline in the index in the foodstuff category -3.44 percent. For the other groups, the finished food, beverages, cigarette & tobacco group rose by 0.54 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel 0.23 percent, clothing 1.05 percent, health group 0, 58 percent and education, recreation and sports group 0.81 percent. For the other two groups, the transport, communication and financial services groups were unchanged (stable).
  •  The calendar year inflation rate (January-November) 2008 was 14.76 percent, while the inflation rate "year on year" (November 2008 to November 2007) was 14.89 percent.
