Kendari - BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Tenggara Province has just released several of the latest strategic indicators related to the Economic Growth (Gross Regional Domestic Product) of Sulawesi Tenggara Province in the Third Quarter of 2024 and the Employment Conditions of Sulawesi Tenggara Province in August 2024.


This was conveyed by the Senior Expert Statisticians ofBPS-Statistics Sulawesi Tenggara Province, Nike Roso Wulandari and Muh. Mulyadi, in a press release at BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Tenggara Province office, Tuesday (05/11/2024). The following is a summary of the results of the press release:


Economic Growth (Gross Regional Domestic Product) of Southeast Sulawesi Province in the Third Quarter of 2024:

1️⃣ The economy of Southeast Sulawesi based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in the third quarter of 2024 reached IDR 47.94 trillion and at constant prices in 2010 reached IDR 28.78 trillion.

2️⃣ The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the second quarter of 2024 experienced a growth of 3.65 percent (q-to-q). In terms of production, the Construction Business Sector experienced the highest growth of 23.72 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the highest growth occurred in the Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) Component of 12.46 percent.

3️⃣ The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter of 2023 experienced a growth of 5.24 percent (y-on-y). In terms of production, the Government Administration, Defense and Mandatory Social Security Business Sector experienced the highest growth of 18.88 percent. In terms of expenditure, the Consumption Component of Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (LNPRT) experienced the highest growth of 12.59 percent.

4️⃣ The economy of Southeast Sulawesi up to the third quarter of 2024 experienced a growth of 5.51 percent (c-to-c). In terms of production, the Manufacturing Industry Business Sector experienced the highest growth of 16.36 percent. In terms of expenditure, the Consumption Component of Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (LNPRT) experienced the highest growth of 15.50 percent.

5️⃣ In terms of production, the Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Business Sector provided the most dominant contribution to Southeast Sulawesi's GRDP of 22.47 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, the most dominant contribution occurred in the Household Consumption Expenditure Component of 45.79 percent.


Employment Conditions of Southeast Sulawesi Province in August 2024:

1️⃣ The number of workers in August 2024 was 1,476.46 thousand people, an increase of 80.93 thousand people compared to August 2023. In line with the increase in the number of workers, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 2.74 percentage points.

2️⃣ The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2024 was 3.09 percent, down 0.06 percentage points compared to August 2023 or down 0.27 percentage points compared to August 2022.

3️⃣ The working population was 1,430.89 thousand people, an increase of 79.25 thousand people from August 2023 and an increase of 94.97 thousand people from August 2022.

4️⃣ The business sector that experienced the largest percentage increase from August 2023 was the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries category (2.72 percentage points). Meanwhile, the business sector that experienced the largest decrease was Construction (0.97 percentage points).

5️⃣ A total of 886.05 thousand people (61.92 percent) work in informal activities, up 0.08 percentage points from August 2023.

6️⃣ Underemployment decreased by 1.71 percentage points and the percentage of part-time workers increased by 2.19 percentage points compared to August 2023.
