Abstract

    In December 2023, Kendari City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.61 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 119.23. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Sumenep at 5.08 percent with a CPI of 120.82 and the lowest occurred in Bandung at 0.63 percent with a CPI of 116.16. Meanwhile, the highest month to month (mtm) inflation occurred in Ternate at 1.64 percent with a CPI of 117.18 and the lowest occurred in Bandar Lampung at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 118.66.
  • ·         Yoy inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: the education group by 5.29 percent; food, beverage and tobacco group at 4.44 percent; transportation group at 3.82 percent; personal care and other services group at 2.93 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group of 1.05 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 0.77 percent; health group at 0.64 percent; and the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 0.33 percent. The expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were the information, communication and financial services group by 0.89 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 0.71 percent; and the clothing and footwear group at 0.06 percent. 
  • Commodities contributing to inflation yoy in December 2023 include rice, air transportation, cayenne pepper, filter clove cigarettes, cars, academies/universities, white cigarettes, high school, gold jewelry, and red chilies
  • On a month to month (mtm) basis, in December 2023 Kendari City recorded inflation of 0.31 percent, with the biggest contributors to inflation including air transportation, cayenne pepper, red chili, bottled water, granulated sugar, sweet corn, purebred chicken, onions red, powder, and catamba fish. Meanwhile, things that hold back the monthly inflation rate include rice, mackerel fish/banyar fish/gembolo fish/aso-aso fish, spinach, children's toys, moringa leaves, flying fish/bengol fish, women's leather sandals, trevally fish/tude fish, household fuel, as well as fern/fern leaves.
