Abstract

The rice harvest area in 2020 was 133.70 thousand hectares, an increase of 1.35 thousand hectares or 1.02 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 132.34 thousand hectares.
Rice production in 2020 amounted to 532.77 thousand tons of milled dry unhulled rice (GKG), an increase of 13.07 thousand tons or 2.51 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 519.71 thousand tons of GKG.
When viewed from the subround, there was an increase in rice production in the May-August and September-December 2020 subrounds, namely 16.13 thousand tons of GKG (8.34 percent) and 27.77 thousand tons of GKG (13.70 percent), respectively. compared to 2019. The decline only occurred in the January-April subround, namely 30.83 thousand tons of GKG (24.97 percent).
If converted into rice for the population's food consumption, rice production in 2020 will amount to 304.38 thousand tons, an increase of 7.47 thousand tons or 2.51 percent compared to 2019 which amounted to 296.92 tons.
The potential for rice production in the January-April 2021 subround is estimated at 164.82 thousand tons of GKG, an increase of 72.15 thousand tons or 77.85 percent compared to the same subround in 2020 which amounted to 92.67 thousand tons of GKG.
