Abstract

Kendari City inflation in August 2020 was recorded at 0.21 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.28. Of the 90 cities, 37 cities experienced inflation and 53 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Meulaboh (Aceh Province) 0.88 percent with a CPI of 107.53 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Batam (Riau Islands Province), Kediri (East Java Province), and Kotamobagu (North Sulawesi Province) at 0.02 percent respectively with CPI 103.24, 104.51, and 105.93, respectively.
  • The inflation that occurred in Kendari City was caused by an increase in the price index in the personal care and other services group by 2.74 percent; education group 1.43 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group 0.39 percent; health group 0.24 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group 0.23 percent; and the transportation group at 0.08 percent. Groups that experienced a decrease in index were the information, communication and financial services group of 0.22 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group 0.21 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group at 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group did not experience any changes / were relatively stable.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation include gold jewelery, colleges / universities, lime / limes, moringa leaves, baby corn, spinach, bird's eye chilies, skipjack / hawksbill, toothpaste and tissue.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation include garlic, shampoo, milkfish / sponge fish, laptop / notebook, live chicken, sugar, flying fish / gnarled fish, mackerel / mackerel / banyar fish / gembolo / aso-aso fish, anchovies and shallots
