Abstract

  • The deflation of Kendari City in September of 2017, recorded at 0.76 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.89. Nationally from 82 cities counting inflation, thirty-two cities recorded deflation and fifty cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Manado (North Sulawesi Province) of 1.04 percent and the lowest deflation recorded in Tembilahan (Riau Province) 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the largest inflation recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) was 1.59 percent.
  • Deflation occurring in Kendari City was caused by the decline in the price index in the foodstuff category by 3.03 percent and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.06 percent. While the group recorded inflation ie health 0.22 percent; clothing 0.17 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.06 percent. While the education, recreation, and sports groups as well as transport, communications, and financial services did not change.
  • The commodities that contribute the biggest deflation are spinach, long beans, kale, fruit tomatoes, vegetable tomatoes, shallots, green mustard, long eggplant, cayenne pepper, and yellow tail.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are kite / benggol, tembang, kembung / gembung / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso, rice, teri, skipjack / scales, milkfish, cooking oil, shampoo, and squid.
  • Of the eleven cities on the island of Sulawesi, seven cities recorded deflation and four cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Manado (North Sulawesi Province) 1.04 percent with CPI 128.26 and the lowest deflation recorded in Palopo (South Sulawesi Province) 0.04 percent with CPI 127.48.
  • The inflation rate of Kendari City in the calendar year (January-September) of 2017 was 3.46 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2017 to September 2016) was 3.49 percent.
  • Inflation in the same period in September 2016 was recorded -0.01 percent, calendar year (January - September) 2016 of 3.04 percent and year-on-year inflation rate for September 2016 against September 2015 was 3.09 percent.
