Abstract

  • The total workforce in Southeast Sulawesi in February 2017 reached 1,261,448 people, an increase of about 49,408 people (4.08 percent) compared to February 2016 of 1,212,040 people. The number of people working in Southeast Sulawesi in February 2017 reached 1.221.884 people, increased by 55,663 people (4.77 percent) compared to February 2016 of 1,166,221 people
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Southeast Sulawesi in February 2017 reached 3.14 percent, decreasing 0.64 points compared to the TPT in February 2016 of 3.78 percent.
  • The agricultural sector, trade and services sectors respectively became the largest contributor to employment in February 2017, at 483,685 (39.59 percent), 239,467 (19.60 percent), and 225,077 (18.42 percent), respectively.
  • The employment situation in February 2017 compared to February 2016 was marked by an increase in the number of workers in the agricultural sector by 54,666 people (12.74 percent), mining and quarrying sectors by 8,534 people (45.49 percent), industrial sector 16,470 people (17.12 Percent), construction sector 2,425 people (3.78 percent), and transportation, warehousing and communication sector 12,735 people (39.51 percent). While the sectors that experienced a decrease in employment were electricity, gas and drinking water 1,337 people (15.42 percent), trade, restaurant and accommodation services sector decreased by 5,597 people (2.28 percent), financial institution sector 9356 people (38.75 percent) and the service sector decreased by 22,877 people (9.23 percent).
  • Seen from the main employment status, most of the population in Southeast Sulawesi worked with the status as laborer / employee / employee of 355,034 people (29.06 percent) and the smallest free worker status was 43,868 (3.59 percent).
