Abstract

  • Inflation of Kendari City entered June 2013, which was marked by a rise in PAM drinking water rates at the beginning of the month and a rise in fuel prices in the last week (IV), showing inflation of 1.19 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 144.16. Of 66 cities calculating inflation, sixty-five cities experienced inflation and one city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga City of 1.96 percent with CPI 149.51 and the lowest occurred in Gorontalo City by 0.11 percent with CPI of 140.95. While deflation occurred in Ambon City of 0.15 percent with CPI 144.46.
  • Inflation occurring in Kota Kendari was due to an increase in the price index shown by the price index in housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group of 5.45 percent and transport, communication and financial services 4.63 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure group experienced a decrease of food expenditure group by 2.67 percent; clothing 1.79 percent; health 0.49 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.16 percent and education, recreation and sports 0.01 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year (January-June) of 2013 is 2.13 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (June 2013 to June 2012) is 3.76 percent.
  • National inflation in June 2013 was 1.03 percent, inflation rate (January-June 2013) was 3.35 percent and inflation year on year (June 2013 to June 2012) was 5.90 percent.
