Abstract

The number of labor force in August 2023 was 1,395.53 thousand people, an increase of 13.13 thousand people compared to August 2022. In line with the increase in the number of labor force, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 1.25 percentage points.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2023 was 3.15 percent, down 0.77 percentage points compared to August 2021 or down 0.21 percentage points compared to August 2022.
  • The working population is 1,351.64 thousand people, an increase of 15.72 thousand people from August 2022 and an increase of 24.57 thousand people from August 2021
  • The jobs that experienced the largest percentage increase from August 2022 were the Information-Communication category; Financial Services and Insurance; Real Estate; and Corporate Services (1.07 percentage points). Meanwhile, the business fields that experienced the largest decline were Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (2.01 percentage points).
  • A total of 835.83 thousand people (61.84 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.55 percentage points from August 2022.
  • Underemployment rose by 2.18 percentage points and the percentage of part-time workers fell by 2.28 percentage points compared to August 2022.
