Abstract

  • The deflation of Kendari in April 2020 was recorded at 0.05 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 103.10. Out of 90 cities, 51 cities experienced deflation and 39 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City (Bangka Belitung Province) by 0.92 percent with CPI 102.31 and the lowest deflation was recorded in Bogor City (West Java) and Semarang City (Central Java) each by 0.02 percent with CPI 105.93 and 104.86 respectively.
  • Deflation that occurred in Kendari City was caused by a decrease in the price index in the information, communication and financial services group of 1.88 percent; transportation 1.43 percent; and recreation, sports, and culture 0.12 percent. Groups that experienced inflation include the personal care and other services group 1.07 percent; food, beverages and tobacco 0.68 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply 0.17 percent; clothing and footwear 0.08 percent; and household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance 0.02 percent. While the expenditure group for housing, water, electricity and other fuels, the health group and the education group did not change / were relatively stable.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation are carrots, onions, red chilies, mustard greens, spinach, kale, broiler chicken meat, cayenne pepper, cellphone pulse fees and air freight.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are floating fish / benggol fish, rice, gold jewelery, broiler eggs, moringa leaves, mackerel / bloated fish / banyar fish / gembolo fish / aso-aso fish, granulated sugar, skipjack fish / scales, tempeh and squid.
