Abstract

  • The number of workforce in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2014 reached 1,085,509 people, an increase of about 42,562 people (4.08 percent) compared to August 2013 of 1,042,947 people.
  • The number of people working in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2014 reached 1,037,419 people, increased by 40,188 people (4.03persen) compared to August 2013 of 997,231 people.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Southeast Sulawesi in August 2014 reached 4.43 percent, an increase compared to August 2013 at 4.38 percent.
  • The agricultural sector, service sector, and trade sector respectively became the largest contributors to employment in August 2014, respectively 442,148 (42,62%), 195,932 (18,89%), and 193,476 (18.65%).
  • The employment situation in August 2014 compared to August 2013 was marked by an increase in the number of workers in the agricultural sector by 25,147 people (6.03 percent), electricity, gas and drinking water 91 people (3.56 percent), construction sector 6,945 people (12 , 81 percent), trade sector 11,678 people (6.42 percent), financial institution sector 901 people (5.67 percent) and service sector 5,764 people (3.03 percent). While the sector that experienced a decrease in employment is the mining sector, industry, and transportation. The mining sector declined by 3,996 people (13.22 percent), industrial sector by 3,498 people (6.15 percent) and transportation sector by 2,844 people (5.87 percent).
  • Of the seven (7) main employment statuses, most of the population in Southeast Sulawesi worked with employment status of 294,262 (28.36 per cent) and the smallest as free laborers in agriculture by 19,148 (1.85 per cent).
