Latest Strategic Indicators Related to Inflation, NTP, Export-Import, TPK, and Transportation

Kendari - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Southeast Sulawesi Province has just released several of the latest strategic indicators related to Inflation, NTP, Export-Import, TPK, and Transportation.

This was conveyed by the Senior Statistician Expert of BPS of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Muh. Amin, in his press release at BPS of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Tuesday (02/01/2024). The following is a summary of the results of the press release:

1. In December 2023, there was year-on-year (yoy) inflation of 2.58 percent in the combined two CPI cities in Southeast Sulawesi, with a CPI of 118.84. Month-to-month (mtm) inflation in the combined two CPI cities was 0.47 percent and the year-to-date (ytd) inflation rate was 2.58 percent.

2. Commodities that contributed to yoy inflation include rice, air transportation, cayenne pepper, filtered kretek cigarettes, cars, academies/universities, white cigarettes, mackerel/scad, gold jewelry and high schools.

3. The export value of Southeast Sulawesi in November 2023 reached US$434.90 million or decreased by 11.48 percent compared to exports in October 2023 which were recorded at US$491.31 million. In line with that, the export volume in November 2023 was recorded at 294.20 thousand tons or decreased by 17.57 percent compared to the export volume in October 2023 which was recorded at 356.92 thousand tons. The largest decline in Southeast Sulawesi's exports in November 2023 occurred in iron and steel commodities worth US$56.58 million (down 11.64 percent) where in October 2023 it was US$485.93 million, down to US$429.35 million in November 2023. According to Sector, Southeast Sulawesi's exports in November 2023 were dominated by the manufacturing industry sector amounting to US$432.98 million (99.56 percent).

4. The import value of Southeast Sulawesi in November 2023 reached US$169.70 million, up 34.96 percent compared to October 2023 or down 16.83 percent compared to November 2022. The import volume in November 2023 was worth 497.89 thousand tons, up 44.70 percent compared to October 2023 or up 27.55 percent compared to November 2022.

5. The trade balance of Southeast Sulawesi in November 2023 experienced a surplus of US$265.21 million.

6. The number of domestic air passengers departing in November 2023 was recorded at 53,322 people or down 4.62 percent compared to October 2023 which was recorded at 55,905 people. Meanwhile, the number of passengers arriving in November 2023 fell 4.35 percent compared to October 2023, from 56,636 people to 54,171 people.

7. The Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of star hotels in Southeast Sulawesi in November 2023 was recorded at 51.40 percent or decreased by 2.08 points compared to the previous month (October 2023) which was recorded at 53.48 percent.

8. The NTP of Southeast Sulawesi in December 2023 was recorded at 106.47 or increased by 0.23 percent compared to the previous month which was recorded at 106.23.
